Privacy Policy
What information we collect
SubletU collects information you voluntarily submit through two forms on this site:
- "List Your Sublet" (host submissions): name, email, phone, school, apartment address and details, pricing, dates, photos link, and related listing information.
- "Request an Introduction" (renter requests): name, email, phone, school, internship details, requested dates, budget, and related matching information.
We do not currently have user accounts, so we don't collect a password or maintain a login.
Why we collect it
Information is collected for one purpose: to manually review host and renter submissions and to facilitate introductions between hosts and renters. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
How submissions are processed
Both forms are handled by Netlify Forms, a feature of our hosting provider, Netlify. When you submit a form, the data is sent to and stored by Netlify, and the SubletU founder views submissions in the Netlify dashboard. Netlify processes this data on our behalf as part of hosting the site — see Netlify's privacy policy for how they handle it.
This site uses your device's built-in system font rather than loading a font from an external provider, so no font-related request information is sent anywhere.
Analytics
We use GoatCounter, a privacy-conscious analytics tool, to count page views and a small number of button clicks (like "Find a Sublet" or "Request an Introduction") so we can see what's working. GoatCounter does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not collect personal information — see GoatCounter's privacy policy for detail. We do not use this data for advertising or share it with third parties for marketing.
Payments
SubletU does not process payments today. No payment or financial account information is collected through this site.
Retention & deletion
We keep submitted information for as long as reasonably needed to complete the manual review and matching process, and for a limited time afterward in case follow-up is needed. If you'd like your information deleted, email hello@getsubletu.com and we'll remove it from our records.
What we don't do
- We don't have any regulatory privacy certifications.
- We don't currently run background checks or identity verification.
- We don't hold funds in escrow.
- We don't share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Changes to this policy
As SubletU adds features (for example, accounts or payments in a future phase), this policy will be updated accordingly, and the "last updated" date above will change.
